THE VALTELLINA

THE VALTELLINA

Valtellina is an alpine valley of glacial origin considered the most important mountain viticulture area in Italy.

BETWEEN THE RETIC AND OROBIAN ALPS

over 100 km

Nestled between the Rhaetian and Orobie Alps, the valley follows the course of the Adda river and stretches for over 100km from Lake Como to the Stelvio pass, benefiting from a unique microclimate characterized by marked temperature excursions between day and night and relatively scarce rainfall.

THE vineyards

The Valtellina vineyards are located on the south facing, more sunny, Rhaetian side of the valley, where the steep slope of the land, mitigated thanks to the famous “mountain hanging” terraces of dry stone walls, enable an optimal insolation of its traditional grape variety, the Nebbiolo.
